A night at the races

Hey guys, Today I'm going to be bringing you with me to a Friday night out at the races! last Friday it was my boyfriends birthday so to celebrate we went on a double date to the races, and indulged in a 4 course meal for only £60pp which may initially sound steep but this covers all 3 meals, table service and first class seats in the beautiful restaurant with front row seats beside the finish line of the race course so you can watch the horses finish their race while u eat your meal, and if your lucky hopefully win some money too!    First course - Starter I was looking forward to my starter the most this time at the races as we had gotten the menu emailed to us and had gone in knowing what I was going to eat already, For the starter we had the choice of 4 dishes, potato and leek soup, mushroom and chicken vol au vent, salmon salad and Caesar salad. I opted for the soup as this is my favourite type of soup so I was very excited to see this on the menu and it was stunning. The...

Orto Belfast

Recently, I had the experience of visiting 'Orto pizza bar' on Stranmillis road, Belfast. located just around the corner from Queen's university it is the perfect spot for students to indulge in before going out for the night. Food from Orto is available for both sit-in dining and take-away, however if your looking for a quick bite take-away might be your option as I was faced with a 45 minute wait time for a table. although the food was worth the wait. the menu selection is limited but perfect if your in the mood for pizza, as it mainly consists of either pizza or salad, as well as a few starters. For my starter I got the 'crispy halloumi fritters' (see below) and these were one of the most amazing things I have eaten. For my main I got the 'peperoni, mozzarella and hot honey pizza' which before ordering I wasn't too sure about as someone who's not a fan of honey, but I quickly changed my mind as it was a delicious pizza, the hot honey give a sweet taste giving a twist to the classic peperoni, but it wasn't too sweet like I was worried about it was just the perfect in-between taste.

Orto's classy interior also gave a relaxing feel to the restaurant, perfect for date night. it is a small restaurant with around only 10 tables. you can also see the workers making your food from the pizza bar as you are sitting in your seat, building anticipation and excitement for your meal coming. even better as well there are two separate restaurants around Belfast, the second being in Talbot street across from ulster university. which seems to have a bigger restaurant setting perfect if you are planning on going in a bigger group.
