A night at the races
Hey guys, Today I'm going to be bringing you with me to a Friday night out at the races! last Friday it was my boyfriends birthday so to celebrate we went on a double date to the races, and indulged in a 4 course meal for only £60pp which may initially sound steep but this covers all 3 meals, table service and first class seats in the beautiful restaurant with front row seats beside the finish line of the race course so you can watch the horses finish their race while u eat your meal, and if your lucky hopefully win some money too!
I was looking forward to my starter the most this time at the races as we had gotten the menu emailed to us and had gone in knowing what I was going to eat already, For the starter we had the choice of 4 dishes, potato and leek soup, mushroom and chicken vol au vent, salmon salad and Caesar salad. I opted for the soup as this is my favourite type of soup so I was very excited to see this on the menu and it was stunning. The menu changes periodically in the restaurant, this is the second time we have been to the on a date night and the starters were different the month before, we opted that time to get BBQ wings and although I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce and its not something I would ever dream of getting any other time I really enjoyed these and couldn't complain.
Second course - Main course
For the main course you could choose from a selection of 4 dishes as well, including sirloin steak, supreme of chicken, herb crusted hake and red Thai curry. all of these dishes sound and looked amazing but this time we all decided to go for the steak. The steak came with a bowl of chips and 3 large onion rings with a side of peppered sauce. as someone who has only recently started to opt for steak in a restaurant I must say this was one of the best steaks I have had (apart from the cooking mix up) the chips were lovely as well and the onion rings so crispy. unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of this, despite being reminded so many times. My first time at the races I decided to get the supreme of chicken which came on a potato cake and a red wine tarragon jus, and it was again something I would never go for and not what I was expecting to be sat down in front of me but it was beautiful and did not disappoint (apart from being such a tiny portion, I could have ate 2) this one I did manage to remember to take a picture off and I would recommend if you are planning on visiting Dundalk races at any point.Third course - Dessert
The options for dessert includes baileys cheesecake, chocolate profiteroles and a selection of cheeses cheese board. I opt for the cheesecake both times I have been because it is just so good. The boys opted for the chocolate profiteroles which came topped with chocolate sauce and of course I had to steal one, they were also amazing. The fourth course offered in the race course is just for a tea or coffee which we didn't take. overall we had a great night and all won a good bit between us.
